Trauma-Informed Approach
There can be many contributing factors that make up each person’s experience of the world. For many of us, trauma is very much a part of that everyday experience and can show up in different ways throughout our lifetime. My goal as a provider is to create an open conversation and trusted relationship with you over time and be a positive participant in your healing process. We are all made up of our collective experiences over time and I view our work together from a whole person/complete picture lense.
Some additional ways I approach our work together:
Listening to your needs and validating your experiences
Transparency with what to expect during the treatment and obtaining your consent beforehand - there will never be any surprises when you are on the table.
In whatever state you show up in is exactly perfect and I will hold grounded space for you in the present
Close attention to any areas that are sensitive to touch or not comfortable with touch.
Ensuring there is plenty of time to answer any questions before and after the session.
At any time during the treatment all things can be adjusted to fit your comfort: temperature, lighting, music, manual pressure etc. If asking for adjustment of sensory items isn’t possible for you I will check in with you to ensure everything is comfortable
Any and all feelings that may come up during the treatments are absolutely welcomed.
Undressing to your own comfort level, I can work over clothing as well
Maintaining a steady, spacious and relaxed pace to assist your nervous system in unwinding.
The sessions always end on time to respect your schedule.
I am always happy to chat more about trauma-informed care, what the sessions look like or any other questions. I enjoy open and authentic conversation and look very forward to working with you.
